Ipoh is the Malaysian stop people drive through and then wish they had kept. It sits on the North–South Expressway between Kuala Lumpur and Penang, which makes it either a rushed lunch or a proper weekend. The old town, the limestone caves, and the coffee-shop breakfasts are enough for two nights. They are not enough if you also try to fold in Cameron Highlands, Taiping, and a beach on the same Saturday.
